Hope

May 12th, 2015

Hope

Hope is a powerful substance. When there is hope, you believe that you can do anything. It is truly the determination, to get from one avenue to another.

Hope is much like faith, we have faith or hope that a chair will hold us when we sit down. Though you know, we can have a solid hope or faith when we give things to God.

He is my hope, He is my reason for having faith. I've been through a lot in my life, more than I ever care to live through again. Though He gave me, that will and determination to keep going no matter the challenges or odds I faced. I will admit, there are times I felt abandoned and even betrayed by Him, because of what I have gone through.

Though, it was never the case, He was always without a shadow of doubt, there. Yet I want to give Him thanks, by showing you the world through my lens.

This is all the work of His hands, an amazing world, and I hope that I can show you the world, how amazing it is, but also that you can have the same hope and faith in God that I do. Take the opportunity, give God your life and let Him open your eyes of your heart. Trust me, it will all be worth it.

Who knows you may have a talent such as photography or painting after all its an amazing world we live in, especially when we have a hope.

Gifts

Gifts

Gifts have an array of types, sizes, forms all each individually unique from one to the next. Some people look at talents as gifts. With that in mind, I've been told my talent is my gift. I have been told I have a very unique perspective on the world, I see it differently than most. I guess I see everything in an unique artistic fashion, whether it be the fall leaves on a tree or even a number on my apartment door.

Each and every day I give my thanks to God for my gift. Yet ever more so.. I thank Him for the retention of my sight, which could of recently been stripped away from me within the time frame of a flash of a camera. I go about through out my day looking around me..admiring the beauty of the world, and I would like to really invite you to slow down and take a look around you... you will be amazed and what you may see.

This is where I come in..my dream for my photography is to show you the world, the world, in which we live in each and every day. I want to give you a gift, a gift that comes from my mind's eye and my heart. It's something I saw, that you may not have seen. I personally invite you to take a look through my website, peruse through and if there is something that you like or know that someone else would love, feel free to purchase the desired piece. And just in time for the Christmas holiday, I have a special promo code for you to receive 10% off any of my work, mention code TZZTTD.

Passion

October 10th, 2013

Passion

Passion is any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate. That is a pretty strong word if you consider the context of the definition. Some of us have a passion stirring inside of us. Whether we choose to reflect it in positive or negative light, that is the choice we all have to make.

I have a passion for photography as you may tell..Though it's not just as simple as that. The world we live in is constant rush, always doing one thing, or another or maybe even multiple things at once. We also live in a distracted society, glued to our technology, some would think that a piece of technology IE; a cell phone would be a facet to the human body. Did you see the color of that rose growing upon the rose bush?

When I am out there in the world, I try to be aware of all around me. Opening my eyes to see the world.. colorful, rusty, dark, bright, beautiful, are just a few adjectives that the world could be described by. When I see something in my world worth capturing.. it is then that my eyes open just that much wider because I am looking for a way to photograph that particular object. Sometimes I may take as little as 4 photographs, but then I may take 20 photographs of one object.

I try to highlight the view that is in my mind's eye to bring attention to it. Why do I do that? Well because I want to show the world, the world I see through my eyes. Through my living passion, I hope that you will see something that I saw, and enjoy it just as much as I enjoyed seeing it myself, and capturing it. By the way the color on that rose was white with a yellow center and pink trim.

Sight

June 17th, 2013

Sight

"And God saw that it was good." ... We can see this passage several times in the first chapter of Genesis when God is creating the heavens and the earth and all things in between. Over a month ago now, I was the victim of an assault, not exactly something I want to remember, but it is now in my life's story. Taking into consideration where my injuries were sustained, I could have lost my sight, thus loosing my ability to share with you, the world from my perspective not to mention other consequential things relative to loosing my sight. I am thankful I still have my sight and my ability.

I look around me from the wisps of a cloud in the sky, to the copper and green scaled frog sitting on a leaf, I must say that it is good. Though I see it not just good but wonderful.. beautiful.. are a few words.. but different is the best word to use. Everyone has their own unique perspective and that's what makes art what it is. Perspectives are different whether it be radically different or in compliment of each other with few differences.

I love what the world has to offer as its my palette, however, God has given me my talent, and my perspective is what I strive to share with you. Maybe you will see something amazing.. marvelous... or unlike anything you have seen before.

Feeding America

April 12th, 2013

Feeding America

Every day several people even right in your own backyard go hungry. It's a battle within our own country we face every single day.

In many ways, America is the land of plenty. But for 1 in 6 people in the United States, hunger is a reality. Many people believe that the problems associated with hunger are confined to small pockets of society, certain areas of the country, or certain neighborhoods, but the reality is much different. Right now, millions of Americans are struggling with hunger. These are often hard-working adults, children and seniors who simply cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, or even days.

Wouldn't you like to make a difference and put food on someone else's plate? Well here is your opportunity.. the funds generated from this piece will be donated to feedingamerica.org. Let's help feed our nation's hungry and homeless. The piece can be purchased framed, on canvas, acrylic, as a greeting card, or even on the all new medium of a metal print.

Snow in Spring...

March 22nd, 2013

Snow in Spring...

Snow in spring on an island? Interesting... As this is my first snowfall to see upon living in Clinton, which is located on Whidbey Island. I find a different appreciation for it. It's just as beautiful don't get me wrong.. but it's different for me. I had to get out there in it and play in it and capture a few pictures to share with you my viewer, and hope maybe you will see the beauty that I see. As I type this the flurries and flakes continue to float by my window adding layer upon layer of the snow upon the ground. Well Im gonna get back out there and try to make a snow man. In the time being hope you are enjoying my art, and may God bless you.

Missed Opportunity

Missed Opportunity

As a photographic artist of the world, I love to photograph a variety of subjects from flowers to architecture. Today unfolded three photographic opportunities that I missed and I managed to see them, but I didn't have the opportunity to capture them to show you the world, my view on the world. and so I think of this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful for beauty is God's Handwriting".

Photographic opportunity #1: The early morning winter light shining through the dew drop on the underside of a blade of grass.

Photographic opportunity #2: The Navy F18 fighter jets flew around today and you could see the moon in the early evening sky. While they were flying about, there was a section of their flight path what had appeared to be as if they were flying underneath the moon.

Photographic opportunity #3: The sunlight was shining upon Mount Baker, with a watery view of the Puget Sound as it wraps around the island and spots of Oak Harbor, WA, just the ideal landscape scene.

All in all three different scenes, but definitely would of been worth while to capture had I been able to. So it turns to be a missed opportunity for me, but Im definitely going to keep my eyes out there for more opportunities to capture and show you the world, my world I live in through my eyes.

Deceieve or Not To Decieve

July 18th, 2012

Deceieve or Not To Decieve

The term "fake" is from the german word fegen, to "furbish" or "clean up". "Photo faker" conjures up the concept of a craft person creating an image that will deceive an innocent or ignorant viewer, a person who can create a complex web of deceit. Nothing could be further from the truth itself.

It is estimated that an approximate of 38,082,191 photographs are taken each and every day. (Wow that's alot of photographs) Of these, fewer than 3 percent are reproduced and fewer than 1 percent are enlarged. The Rochester Institute of Technology estimates that about one in ten photographs have been altered. This means something has been added, deleted, removed, or changed. Every indication is that these percentages will grow as newspapers, magazines, journals, and other advertising organizations purchase new equipment to manipulate photos electronically.

Why am I talking about this? Well art is a form of conception. Conceived in the mind's eye and put out to the world. Photographic art is my category now yes my art is taking something from the world, whether it be a hubcap or a flower in the garden. Though my photographs are modified very slightly, there is nothing drastically done. As I like to say when there is no boat in the harbor, well there is no boat in the harbor.

Now I am not necessarily accusing my fellow artisans of deception, but after learning about Photoshop and it's capabilities, and even more so after watching a step by step video of a modified scene of Seattle. I just don't find myself wanting to deceive you, my viewers. I see certain photographs and I question integrity of the photo, is it real, is it modified, how is it modified. Not to mention will they release the information to the public eye that the image is modified? I guess to say there in that matter it lays in the hands of the integrity of the artisan.

When I modify a photograph of mine, I may make minor contrast, or lighting adjustments. Though the image may not be considered 100% pure then, it is more pure than not. After all I just want you to see the rich vibrant color in the scene. Keep in mind, though I have not taken anything out nor added anything to the photograph. I also may choose to modify a photograph my making it sepia, or gray-scaling it. Though if I have modified the photograph with drastic modification, I will notify you in the Artist's notes about the piece.

Again, why am I talking about this subject, I don't know but I just thought it would make a good entry for you to read and comment on.

Nothing Is Perfect

July 18th, 2012

Nothing Is Perfect

Nothing is perfect in a perfectionist's eyes. There is no way around it. Everything must be perfect, whether it be all the pencils in a row or the colors of a scheme of a room. In art the finish project we have created is what we consider to be masterpieces.

Over the past few days and the next few days continuing, I am working on a project. She doesn't have a name, just yet but she is the fairy in the picture there, sitting atop a mushroom. Today on my third day of progress, a kid, unintentionally, while I was getting a color for my flowers, (which you see at the base of the mushroom) knocked her off the pedestal, giving her a broken wing.

As much as it frustrated me, not necessarily at the kid, but her unexpected and all so sudden characteristic. Conceptually I wanted her to be perfect, now perceptually she isn't. It's a lesson and an understanding within me now that, nothing is perfect. There will always be a flaw, whether we choose and/or are able to see the flaw or not.

Now as much as I have the frustration for the way she is, the frustration and lesson is to accept her the way she is, and so in that note, she is perfect just the way she is. Leaving art to be what it is, subjective and challenging, and no masterpiece is perfect. Thus said nothing is perfect.
